The Club

The Langford Tennis Club has been serving the Westshore Community and the Greater Victoria area since 1925. The club was formed in the 1920's and was located in the heart of Langford, its original courts were made of a unique wooden plank surface. Currently, the Langford Tennis Club partners with the YM-YWCA and Royal Roads University where the club's main courts are located; at the first right after entering the University grounds. The Langford Tennis Club functions year round offering indoor and outdoor tennis but is most active during the outdoor season which runs from February/March through to September/October. During the spring and summer months, Langford Tennis Club has exclusive rights to the Royal Roads University's main tennis courts. The indoor tennis starts only when the lack of light or the weather chases us from the outdoors. The club offers free memberships to junior players under the age of 10, otherwise memberships are available for Juniors (Under 18 years of age), Adults and Families for a nominal annual membership fee. Guest players are welcome.

Facility

The Langford Tennis Club operates on three outdoor hardcourts (plexipave surface) at its Royal Roads University location. In addition to tennis this location also offers, through the "Y", squash courts; 25 yard pool; water polo; gymnasium; full fitness centre including cardio conditioning, keiser strength training, free weights and apex equipment; meeting rooms; changerooms with showers; running and walking trails; waterfront area including sail boats and canoes; free parking. The club also has access to additional tennis courts at Juan de Fuca Park, six outdoor hardcourts located next to the golf pro shop and soccer fields, this site hosts the annual Gllangcolme Tournament; Centennial Park, two outdoor hardcourts located off Rita Road next to the fastball diamonds and the Royal Roads University's Library courts, two outdoor hardcourts located to the right of the main building beside the library.

Programs

The Langford Tennis Club offers an active junior program during the summer months, where the Royal Roads University courts are reserved for junior players Monday evenings from 5-7pm. The Langford Tennis Club is active throughout the year offering many social events, tournaments and organized play opportunities. The club hosts and organizes the annual Gllangcolme Tennis Tournament, the Royal Westshore Junior Tournament as well as the Langford Tennis Club's summer club tournament. The club fields a variety of Women's and Men's teams which compete in the Vancouver Island Tennis Association's inter-club leagues. Organized play during the months of May, June and July include Team Tennis on Tuesday evenings and Social Doubles on Thursday evenings. During the winter months, Langford Tennis Club stays active by moving indoors for Friday evening and Sunday morning play and organizes many other special events through the winter season.
